AGEE: monitoring WI
« on: October 21, 2009, 02:32:06 AM »
When you configure AGEE, and include any hook into WI (eg ICA proxy) there is no *obvious* way to check on the status of your WI server (assuming you are not load-balancing it - see below for more on this).

I had an issue where someone, trying to be "helpful", managed to delete the SSL cert from the WI server, and we were running a secure link from AGEE to WI.

I have now given us a nice simple visual way of keeping an eye on the WI status, by simply creating an HTTPS service that points to WI, and uses an HTTPS monitor probe (set same as the standard https prob, just slower).

Now, if WI has an issue, I can check that "WI-Probe" service status, and see if it's up or down!

(in our case, the WI is running under XenServer, and is HA'd, so there is no advantage in setting up a second WI, nor of load-balancing the connection)
