Upgrade from MPX 5500 HA to MPX 7500 HA
« on: December 08, 2011, 01:13:55 AM »
We have a HA pair MPX 5500 for some VPN connections. Ther are many certificates and some policys, authentications and LB VServer.

Now we want to change to a pair MPX 7500, cause the bandwith is more and there is a second power supply. Both (5500 and 7500) are 9.3 nc but different build versions. I can update the 5500 to the same as the 7500, so both the same.

What is the best way to "copy" the configuration from both 5500 to both 7500 with IP, Network, VServer and so on...?

Regards
Marcus

You could just move the CF card on the back of the unit.

I have done SCP between NSs, then a simple reboot does the trick.

Dear evildani
What´s about the build? Do you have the same build ?

usually the configuration is mostly backward compatible, if not, the NS will ignore that rule. So be careful with advance expressions, or clientless rules, that kind of rules might be unsupported on older versions.
The build is stored in the CF, for sanities sake, move configs between the same config.
You could copy the kernel and that would suffice. But just to be save do a regular update on the firmware.
