Netscaler and Citrix Access Gateway logs
« on: August 25, 2010, 01:42:30 pm »
Hi,

Can someone please tell me how I can view the logs from the CAG component of a Netscaler ? We need to view these to see when users are authenticating etc. , either it's not setup correctly or we are looking in the wrong place.

Thanks

Hi Nick,

What version are you using in the latest version (9.2.47.11cl) you can see all current User Session and ICA sessions from the top node window (highlight AGEE) you will see the links on the right hand pane this will open a new window.

You can see authenticated user sessions in a SYSLOG is you are logging externally (recommended) or view the onboard logs under system > diagnostics the native format is nslog, also via the cli you can drop into shell and run a cat aaad.debug from the /tmp directory this will give you a real time view of the users authentication / auth failure.
In order to help with posts I would suggest all posts begin with the build version including cl (classic) or nc (nCore) :-)

Hi,

Is it possible to forward the contents of aaad.debug file to SYSLOG or Is there a way to log this authentication information to other files which can be forwarded to SYSLOG say ns.log etc?

aaad.debug is a named pipe, and as you can probably guess from its name, is there to help debug problems.

What information are you looking for that the syslog won't get from an audit policy? (search for "audit policy" in the Access Gateway docs, which are now online docs)
